Enrolled — What It Means in Clinical Trials
Plain English Definition
Being enrolled means you have passed screening, signed the informed consent form, and are officially a participant in the trial. You are now assigned to a treatment group and the study begins for you. Not everyone who screens will be enrolled — some people do not meet all the criteria.
Why It Matters
Enrollment is a milestone. Once enrolled, you will receive your treatment assignment and begin the study schedule. Your research team will provide a detailed calendar of visits, tests, and check-ins.
Example
A trial page might show: "Target enrollment: 300 participants." This means the study aims to enroll 300 people across all sites.
